Interim Recommendations Of Justice J.S. Varma Committee.
     There is a need that curriculum And methods are so devised as to operationalise Fundamental Duties  as a constitutional obligation . Inorder to formulate the committee's Interim recommendations, the preseed chapters of the report indicate the attempt made to understand what provisions on the teaching Of fundamental Duties is already availble to what extent they are  in operation j, what needs to be done to achieve better results and particularly how certain interventions can be initiated forthwith. In the light of this, a few interim recommendations are as follows:-
  1. There is a need for a fundamental transformation in the direction and approach jto the currlicula for teaching Fundamental Duties in schoools and teacher education institutions........................
  2. A stirct compliance of the provisions of various Acts towards enforcement of aspects related to protection and improvement of environment..............................
  3. Conscious efforts to strenghten the work Of NGO's in the areas of national integration and communal harmony , culture and values , and environment...........................
  4. Creating more awarness of fundamental duties among citizens through advocacy and sensitization programmes.......
  5. Preamble to the Constitution and the ten clauses of Article 51A of the constitution regarding Fundamental duties be printed in all school textbooks.......................
  6. The intent of each clause of article 51A could be subject of brief presentation in all morning assemblies in schools...........
  7. Seminars , debates , competitions on the different  aspects of article 51A could be made a regular feature of curricular  programmes of schools , colleges  and universities.
  8. Fundamental Duties could be included in the Foundation Course in Teacher's education curriculum.
  9. Development of radio , video spots highting important messages emanating from clauses of Article 51A......
  10. January 3rd (the date on which article 51A came into force) be observed as Funadamental Duties Day.
