The public property consists various
government and semi government institutions, industries ,Railways, Post
and Telegraph Offices, Public Medical Hospitals, Universities, the Government
Institutions and Colleges, Schools, etc. The public funds are substantially
invested in the several public sectors.
Before independence, private companies
controlled the overwhelming majority of industrial and commercial undertakings
in the country. The significant exception was the Railway. These private
firms were mostly promoted and controlled by Managing Agents. With independence,
the State came into the picture.
